Iran War Heightens Anxiety Among Telugus In Gulf

NIZAMABAD: US-Israeli attacks on Iran and Tehran’s counter-attacks on many Arab countries have raised concern about the impact of escalating hostilities between Telugu-speaking peoples and their kin in the Gulf countries. No major incidents involving Indian migrant workers have been reported. Due to the closure of educational institutions in the Gulf countries, students are staying with their families.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Marka Praveen Kumar, a social worker in Kuwait, said that the situation is under control. ‘We are in touch with the Indian embassy over the situation,” he said, adding that attacks were reported at a place that is 40 km from his residential area.

Indian authorities have asked people of Indian origin in the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait to stay at home and not get involved in local incidents. Praveen Kumar said that he supports immigrant families. Telugus living in Dubai were also taking precautionary steps.

Expats in Israel, Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) share information about war conditions. Iran’s counter-attacks have escalated the issue among migrant workers.

Telugu students camped on the campus of an India-based technology college and their parents inquired about the situation. MPs from Telugu states and Union ministers were also raising questions about the welfare of migrants and their families.
