In his post, the Iranian Foreign Minister said, “We shared Iran’s position on a workable framework to permanently end the war against Iran. We have not yet seen whether the United States is truly serious about diplomacy.”

This came after the Iranian delegation led by Araghchi left Islamabad on Saturday evening, a day after high-level meetings with the Pakistani leadership, leaving Pakistan’s ambitious claims to broker a US-Iran peace deal as part of the second round of talks in tatters.

According to Al Jazeera, the delegation left the capital of Pakistan after presenting an “official list of demands” to Pakistani leaders on behalf of the United States and Israel in order to find a full solution to the conflict in West Asia.
Araghchi will visit Oman and Russia as part of his tri-nation tour. According to the statement published by Araghchi on Telegram, the Iranian Foreign Minister announced Iran’s “principled positions regarding the latest developments regarding the ceasefire and the complete end of the war imposed on the Islamic Republic by the US and Israeli forces on the Pakistani side.”

This weekend’s diplomatic theater is quickly reflecting on the failures of the past. The first round of talks, held in Islamabad earlier this month and involving US Vice President JD Vance and Iranian Parliament Speaker MB Ghalibaf, dragged on for 21 hours without any progress.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said he canceled Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Senior Advisor Jared Kushner’s planned trip to Islamabad due to “tremendous internal strife and confusion” within the Iranian administration.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that he was postponing the trip for his representatives who were scheduled to travel to Islamabad for the second round of peace talks with Iran aimed at finding a comprehensive solution to hostilities in West Asia.

“I just canceled my representatives’ trip to Islamabad, Pakistan, to meet with the Iranians. Too much time spent traveling, too much work! On top of that, there is tremendous infighting and confusion within their leadership. No one knows who is in charge, including them,” Trump said in his post.

He also tried to place responsibility for the continuation of negotiations on Iran.

“Besides, we have all the cards, they don’t! If they want to talk, just call!!!” Added Trump’s post.
