Iran’s military ‘takes ayatollah hostage’ in new claim | World | News

Watters said that the US delegation, consisting of Vice President JD Vance, Middle East Special Representative Steve Witkoff and Peace Special Representative Jared Kushner, should go to Islamabad, Pakistan, for negotiations with Iran.
Watters claimed that the Iranian delegation never left Iran. Trump said he confirmed that Iran’s religious leader Mojtaba Khamenei authorized the deal.
The United States has been at war with Iran since February 28, when joint US-Israeli forces launched attacks on many important regions of Iran. Iran retaliated by striking sites in the Middle East and closing the critical Strait of Hormuz trade route.
The United States imposed a blockade on Iranian ports in the strait, through which 20 percent of global oil trade passes, in order to strangle the Iranian economy, lift the shutdown and put pressure on negotiations.
Trump said Tuesday that the short-term ceasefire has been extended.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump announced: “I… have directed our Military to maintain the Blockade and remain ready and capable in all other respects, and will therefore extend the Armistice until proposals are presented and discussions are concluded one way or another.”
A long-term peace agreement could not be reached.
The talks were planned to be held on Wednesday, but the plans fell through when both sides canceled travel plans to Islamabad, Pakistan, where the talks were to be held.
Watters said on the air: “The Ayatollah told his ministers, ‘Hold on,’ but the military said, ‘Not so fast.’ We’re basically looking at another Iranian hostage crisis, this time they’ve taken themselves hostage and so the negotiations are continuing.”
“IRGC will not agree to sign the strait and the uranium, and they are the only votes that matter because they have the weapons.”
“It’s hard to know exactly what’s going on within the ranks, but sources say that in prime time the military sidelined the mullahs and kept the Ayatollah alive as a puppet while asserting control over the negotiations.”
“It looks like there has already been a soft military coup, and as the blockade continues to break the country’s bank, there could be a coup within the military.”
