Isaac Ladha: Perth father seriously injured in Success baseball bat road rage

A Perth father has relived the terrifying moment he was hit in the head with a metal baseball bat and dragged from his car during a violent rampage on his way to work.
Isaac Ladha, who is in his 40s, told 7NEWS that first responders thought they “lost it” after a bloody attack in Success Wednesday afternoon.
Mr Ladha said he was behind the wheel of his Holden Cruze sedan when the driver of a Toyota Camry behind him started beeping aggressively at traffic lights on Beeliar Drive near Hammond Road around 2pm.
Police said the Camry driver then passed Mr. Ladha’s car and then boxed him in place.
“He opened his boot… and pulled out a large metal baseball bat,” Mr. Ladha told 7NEWS.
“While I was trying to register on my mobile phone, he immediately hit me in the eye with a baseball bat.
“Everywhere was pitch black, I could see with one eye. I was trying to look for help or something. He grabbed me by the neck and dragged me out of the car and dragged me on the road.
“He came back and hit me in the ribs again with the baseball bat and hit me in the head a second time.
“I lost consciousness immediately.”
Fremantle Detectives have charged a 46-year-old man, who was arrested in Hammond Park shortly after the attack, with assault occasioning bodily harm.
A WA Police spokesman said the incident appeared to be “isolated” and there were “no ongoing concerns for the safety of the community” with the man currently out on bail.
Mr Ladha and the accused attacker do not know each other.
Mr Ladha said he hoped to reconnect and personally thank a woman who came to his aid as he lay bleeding on the ground.
“He was trying to get me to talk so I wouldn’t lose consciousness… as soon as I stopped I could hear him saying ‘we’re losing him, we’re losing him’,” he said.
“He took my head, put it on his thigh… he was here next to me.”
He said that while he was being loaded into the ambulance, other drivers apologized to him because they were too scared to intervene.
Mr Ladha is expected to be discharged from hospital this week.
The defendants are scheduled to appear in court on August 11.
