Three ships hit by gunfire in Strait of Hormuz

Maritime security sources and UK Merchant Marine Operations reported that at least three container ships were opened fire on in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran imposed restrictions on ships using the strait, first in retaliation for the US-Israeli bombing of the country and then in response to the US blockade of Iranian ports.
A Liberian-flagged container ship suffered damage to its bridge on Wednesday after being hit by gunfire and rocket-propelled grenades off northeastern Oman.
UKMTO said the ship’s captain reported that an IRGC gunboat was approaching him.
It was stated that fire was then opened on the ship.
All crew members were safe and there were no fires or environmental impacts due to the incident.
Maritime security sources said there were three people on the gunboat.
The captain of the container ship operated by Greece also stated that there was no radio connection before the incident and that the ship was initially informed that it had permission to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
UKMTO later said a second container ship was opened fire on west of Iran.
There was no damage to the Panama-flagged ship and it was stated that the crew was safe.
Maritime security sources said that a third container ship passing through the Strait of Hormuz west of Iran was opened fire on.
The Liberian-flagged ship, which was not damaged, stopped in the water.
Sources said the crew was safe.
Before the war began on Feb. 28, the waterway typically supplied roughly one-fifth of the world’s supply of oil and liquefied natural gas.
