The call came after Israel’s security cabinet wrapped up its meeting to approve the ceasefire and hostage release phase of the US-backed plan to end the Gaza war. The full cabinet is now set to vote on the deal, which is expected to be approved by a solid majority.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi also called US President Donald Trump to discuss the progress in trade negotiations and the Gaza ceasefire.

“I spoke to my friend President Trump and congratulated him on the success of the historic Gaza peace plan. I also reviewed the good progress made in trade negotiations. We agreed to remain in close contact in the coming weeks,” Modi told X.
