April 28 (Reuters) – Two Lebanese soldiers were injured in an Israeli attack on Lebanese soldiers and rescue teams during a rescue operation in the village of Majdal Zoun in southern Lebanon, the Lebanese army said on Tuesday.

Lebanese civil defense stated that three of its members remained under the rubble after the Israeli attack, and that the Lebanese army’s efforts to evacuate these people were continuing.

A US-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon led to a significant reduction in hostilities, but Israel and the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah continued fighting in southern Lebanon, where Israel maintains its troops in a self-declared buffer zone.

Israel continued to launch attacks in southern Lebanon, destroying homes it described as infrastructure used by Hezbollah. Meanwhile, the Iran-backed group continued its drone and rocket attacks against Israeli troops in Lebanon and northern Israel.
