‘It makes you wonder if Nicola is the puppeteer’: Insiders tell KATIE HIND the Beckhams fear Brooklyn’s beloved wife is behind trolling advert that’s left him ‘even more cut off’ from his family

There was a time when David and Victoria Beckham’s sons were negotiating lucrative social media deals.

At the time, Posh and Becks couldn’t have been more supportive of nepo baby Brooklyn’s burgeoning career as an influencer, admitting she wouldn’t be able to find a ‘decent job.’

But around 5.30pm on Monday, they must have regretted all the help they had given their son when they found themselves at the center of their first-born’s latest deal with online food delivery company DoorDash.

The ad, which Brooklyn, 27, shared with her 16.4 million followers on Instagram, appears to deliberately mock David and Victoria, who were devastated by a row with their son that took a dramatic turn for the worse after he and wife Nicola Peltz failed to attend David’s 50th birthday celebrations in May 2025.

Grinning at the camera, Brooklyn says in the ad: ‘You’re probably wondering why I’m watching the 2026 FIFA World Cup from home… it’s a long story.’

The text at the end of the 11-second clip reads: ‘This is complicated. Closer.” Then a stack of unopened letters appears on the table, which some took as a nod to his refusal to respond to repeated calls from his family to contact him. Most of these pleas, I’m told, are from Brooklyn’s distraught grandparents and his heartbroken younger sister Harper, innocent parties in the falling out.

The ad, thought to be the first of several, sparked widespread criticism that Brooklyn was using family dispersion to make money. Others claimed it was incredibly hypocritical, considering Brooklyn’s request for ‘privacy’ in the brutal six-page Instagram statement she posted in January.

Neither Beckham had any idea about Brooklyn’s current situation. ‘But they don’t know, they don’t know anything about his life,’ a friend thought.

But friends of the family told me that the latest attack in Brooklyn has raised concerns within the Beckham clan. Some believe his wife Nicola was involved in a mission that would worsen relations with her family.

‘A shadow hangs over the whole family,’ a source said. ‘Nothing is the same as before, but from now on they become confused and worried. And it’s very, very sad.

‘Where was Nicola? He did not share [the advert] on his social media. They always share each other’s content but not in this case. You wonder if he’s the puppeteer.

‘You see, he’s the one pulling the strings, enjoying it, giggling and saying that this ad means Brooklyn will be even more cut off from his family than before.

‘Why do you say you’re estranged from your parents and then come out with such an aggressive attitude towards them?’

Indeed, there is no love lost between Nicola, 31, and the Beckhams. In fact, David and Victoria also despise their parents, Nelson and Claudia Peltz.

But 5,000 miles away from Brooklyn and Nicola’s luxurious life in Beverly Hills, there are grandparents who are ‘inconsolable’ because they can no longer see their great-grandchild. ‘Brooklyn says he contacts his grandparents, but he doesn’t,’ the source says. ‘They will be devastated by this.’

There are some clues to the timing of the DoorDash insult in Brooklyn. It’s sure to be a tough summer due to the World Cup. His father, whom he once idolized, will be front and center at the tournament because of his ties to American football.

Perhaps that was the ‘hidden’ meaning behind his complaint that he would have to watch the games from home or risk bumping into David.

But I’m sure there’s no need to panic since David attended the only game he planned to watch in Los Angeles: America’s opener against Paraguay at SoFi Stadium.

He now plans to attend games in other parts of the United States, including the World Cup final at MetLife ground in New Jersey.

But of course there’s no danger of Brooklyn running into him, even if he does. ‘These are pretty big places,’ one source said. ‘There are tens of thousands of fans in these stadiums, he does not have to see his father. This is all pathetic.”

This begs the question: Why did Brooklyn agree to the deal?

Some have suggested that this is part of Brooklyn and Nicola’s plan to stay current. After all, he has little work commitment outside of Brooklyn hot sauce brand Cloud23.

Nicola, on the other hand, has made two films this year, both financed by her billionaire businessman father Nelson. One of these, Pretty Ugly, which was taken to the Cannes film festival, was screened in the town’s smallest screening hall with a capacity of 53 people.

“It seems cruel for Brooklyn and Nicola to profit from a painful crisis that has deeply hurt so many people,” a source said.

No one from DoorDash responded to Daily Mail requests for comment yesterday. However, I was told that some people within the company feared they might have walked into a ‘s*** show’.

‘Nobody’s talking about DoorDash,’ one source said.

‘It’s all about Brooklyn and her family’s fight. But more importantly, it seems cruel that Brooklyn and Nicola are cashing in on a painful outcome that has left so many people, some in their late 70s and 80s, deeply hurt.’

The DoorDash ad was recorded weeks ago. And many industry experts agreed that Brooklyn chose the ‘perfect timing’ to release it to grab headlines.

She posted this on social media a day after accusing her parents of ‘setting a trap’ for paparazzi to catch her 14-year-old sister Harper visiting her Beverly Hills home four hours after watching her father be inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame (just three miles from her brother’s mansion).

Harper was photographed looking upset when she saw that Brooklyn wasn’t there, so she left him a handwritten letter.

David and Victoria were furious at the accusation, which a friend described as ‘disgraceful’.

‘Harper just wants to hear from her brother,’ a source said. ‘She misses him deeply and is literally heartbroken that she cannot contact him.

‘He’ll still take the time to talk about the feud in exchange for a packet of cash.’
