Italy has issued a public apology after a group of young people from the country visiting Bangkok insulted a Thai woman who asked them to be quiet on a train.
In footage shared on social media, the woman on the BTS SkyTrain can be seen accusing a group of young people of being too loud and telling them: ‘We don’t scream in Thailand.’
When he asked them where in the world they were from, they sarcastically replied ‘Thailand’ before calling him ‘b****’.
One of them was seen raising his middle finger at him, while others continued to laugh and make noise.
The video also shows a teacher sarcastically telling him, “I’m sorry for bringing money into your country,” before telling him to “shut up” and that the group is “just kids.”

‘We wanted to shoot this video yesterday, but we were worried and scared, so we postponed it. This was probably the wrong decision.

One woman said: ‘I am personally extremely sorry for what happened. I know money can’t buy respect and I’m truly sorry to anyone who was offended and for offending Thai culture and the Thai people.’
A young man who appeared to be a teenager said: ‘I am so sorry for everyone in Thailand for what I did on the BTS train. It was wrong. ‘I’m very sorry for my behavior.’
A second adult woman said: ‘We do not accept this behaviour. The students are returning to Italy as soon as possible and we will try to re-teach our group to absolutely respect this culture.
‘We thank you for welcoming us and humbly ask for your forgiveness.’
