ITC Chairman Sanjiv Puri’s remuneration fell 6.8% in FY26 on back of lower performance bonus: Here’s how much he made

Sanjiv Puri, chairman and managing director of ITC Limited, saw a decline of 6.8 per cent in his total compensation in FY26. ₹The company’s latest annual report claimed that this figure was ₹23.91 crore, largely due to reduction in performance bonuses and long-term incentives or commissions.
Sanjiv Puri’s FY26 and FY25 charges
In FY26, his remuneration included base and consolidated salary of: ₹3.85 crore, additional conditions ₹88 lakhs and ₹19.17 crore in performance-related bonuses, long-term incentives and commissions, PTI reported.
However, in the 25th Fiscal Year, the ITC president ₹25.66 crore including basic and consolidated salary ₹3.53 crore and privileges ₹73 lakhs. Performance bonuses, long-term incentives and commissions ₹21.39 crore.
Compared to the previous fiscal, Puri’s basic and consolidated salary as well as benefits have been increased in 2025-26.
Puri’s shares decline
There are 3,00,591 ordinary shares with face value as on March 31, 2026. ₹They were also given stock options for 1 each and 1,01,000 shares. Puri’s assets were higher in FY25; 4,52,843 ITC shares were held individually or jointly and he was given stock options for 1,34,500 shares.
Puri’s wage is 338 times the average wage of employees
The annual report also revealed that Puri’s salary was 338 times the average wage of the company’s employees. The average wage for the company’s 10,368 male employees was: ₹The average wage of 683 women employees was 5,30,593 in FY 26. ₹2,25,424.
According to ITC, “The majority of female workers work in new production units. Since a significant majority of these hires are new entrants, the average wage appears to be lower.”
Compared to FY25, the company’s FY26 data showed that employees’ average wages increased by roughly four percent, while employees’ average wages decreased by two percent.
ITC relies on FMCG and sustainable businesses for next phase of growth
According to the annual report, the company has set out an ambitious medium-term growth roadmap focused on growing its FMCG business, expanding digital farming, growing the fresh food and sustainable packaging segments, and achieving net-zero operations by 2050.
The holding said it aims to become India’s top FMCG company by strengthening its core brands, expanding into value-added neighborhoods and developing new portfolios focusing on health, nutrition, convenience and premium products.
Puri is leading the “ITC Next” strategy, which aims to drive growth and profitability through digital transformation, innovation, sustainability and emerging businesses such as Fresh Food, ITCMAARS and sustainable packaging, the annual report said.
Under this strategy, ITC said ITCMAARS digital agriculture platform targets participation of 4,000 Farmer-Producer Organizations and plans to reach one crore farmers by 2030.
ITC said it will continue to invest in sustainable packaging, including recyclable and fiber-based replacements for single-use plastic. The company also termed the recently announced acquisition of the pulp and paper business of Aditya Birla Real Estate Limited as a strategic move to strengthen and expand its paperboard segment.
