‘It’s a very squatchy area’: Grandmother reports ‘very credible’ Bigfoot sighting in California
A “very convincing” Bigfoot sighting was reported by a grandmother in California.
Linda Dixon-Smith, 73, was taking her grandson to Boy Scout Camp in California’s Fresno County on June 28 when she spotted an 8-foot-tall beast covered in “brownish-red hair” lurking in a clearing in the middle of the day, revealing that the creature had a “little head” and arms that reached down to its knees.
The sighting was reported to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO), which called the claim a “credible daylight sighting.”
Linda told the organization: “[I was] I’m taking my grandson to his summer job at BSA. [Boy Scouts of America] Camp…
“I looked at my grandson. My eyes moved a little further and I saw a figure standing in the field. He was facing south. [It had] Her brownish red hair, I could clearly see her skin through it.
“His little head seems to be on his shoulders. His long arms go past his knees. I couldn’t see his face or the front of his body. I couldn’t see his feet because he was standing in the grass.”
He didn’t move. “I froze as we passed very slowly.”
He added: “I’m reporting this today because I went back and took a good look, made sure I didn’t see a tree stump or anything. No. I 100 percent saw what I saw.”
Linda told the organization that the sighting occurred around 11 a.m. on a clear summer day in a wooded area where there was a clearing for power lines.
Researcher Matthew Moneymaker conducted a follow-up interview with Linda and published his findings in a report posted on the organization’s website.

“He was driving very slowly because the speed limit there was 15 miles per hour. He looked out the window to the right and got a good look at the sasquatch. Because he was looking south toward Dinkey Creek Road, he only saw the right side.
“Sasquatch had reddish fur that was thin enough to show the skin underneath. The skin color was slightly lighter than the chamois color.
“He was standing in grass that came halfway up to his knees. He estimates he might have been about eight feet tall.”
Moneymaker added that there have been other sightings in the Shaver Lake area and that he believes what Linda saw was real: “About 10 years ago, I looked into one of the wooded areas that was just 1,000 feet from where Linda saw it a few days ago.
“That’s why I’m so sure you saw a sasquatch there… The forests around Shaver Lake have been one of the bigfoot viewing spots of the California Sierras for many years…
“Over 10 years ago, a local sheriff’s deputy reached out to me personally and told me about a Class A daylight sighting there. He couldn’t get on camera to tell his story, but it was a good story. It’s a very, very dirty area.”
