While Poston wasn’t in contention, he couldn’t picture himself at the bottom of the leaderboard at the end of the tournament, but he was the main reason for finishing the tournament in 69th place out of 72 teams with 6-overs and 1-overs left behind at 12-overs.

So what exactly happened to Poston?

The 13th hole started with a perfect shot that found the middle of the fairway. Then, his second shot found a greenside bunker, but the pros sometimes don’t shy away from finding those bunkers because of how great their short game is. A good bunker shot and Poston has a chance to make birdie on the par-5.

But things went south from there, with his bunker shot coming in quite short, leaving him with a attrition situation. Once again, professionals understand that having equal chances after a solid chip is not the end of the world.

But for Poston, the nightmare was just beginning; His fourth shot went over the green and fell into the water on the opposite side.

From there Poston had to fumble not once but three times because he couldn’t get the ball back down the field. On his 10th shot, he finally got the ball into shooting position.

Poston still had to keep going, hitting his 11th and missing the ball before the 12th, ending the meltdown in front of the fans.

Poston mentioned numerous drop balls located near the water and continuing to roll into the drink.

“It’s not really a tough situation that you can blow up,” Poston said. per week of golf. “It’s in the flesh, but it seems like you can put enough golf balls on it, so I tried to hit a good chip.”

Poston was asked if he would consider taking it out of the greenfield rigor as it was clear his chips were not working.

“I feel like I’m about to jump and that takes all the momentum away,” he replied. “And you have a big false front that you have to get through that. So my concern in trying to hit it was that it wouldn’t have enough speed to actually get there.”

Poston couldn’t recover on the 14th hole either, posting a double bogey on the par-4 par-4 that sent him even lower. In the end, Poston finished the tournament with 76 points.

Meanwhile, the Travelers Championship will come down to a playoff match on Monday after Viktor Hovland and Scottie Scheffler found themselves in a stalemate after a compelling 21-under putt. Hovland’s winning shot was completely missed and Scheffler took advantage of the clear opportunity.
