Jack Osbourne calls backlash over White House UFC attendance ridiculous

Jack Osbourne is defending his choice to attend the weekend’s UFC fight at the White House, saying some of the critical comments he received were “totally crazy and what the hell?” He says it is.

The former reality star shared a post video She took to her YouTube channel to discuss the backlash she received and shared several examples of social media comments saying things like “I’m so disappointed” and “This is kind of devastating, I’m not going to lie.”

“I went to a sporting event. That’s it,” he explained. “I didn’t go into the ring and throw my hat on a political mission. I wasn’t there to support a politician or some kind of foreign affairs issue. Nothing. I literally went to the White House to see the UFC.”

Osbourne explained that she has been interested in combat sports her entire life, including taking up taekwondo at the age of 6, training for Muay Thai in Thailand in her late teens and early twenties, and taking up jiu-jitsu in her 30s. “I’ve also competed in UFC and PRIDE fights dating back to the early 2000s. It’s something that’s been a part of my life for as long as I can remember,” Osbourne said.

When invited by UFC President and CEO Dana White, he said, “Of course I would go. Everybody who got an invite would go. I’m sorry, there’s no one I can think of who would say, ‘No, I’m not going to go to this because I don’t approve of Orange Man or whatever.’

He called the backlash “ridiculous” and said it “wasn’t a political incident — or in my eyes, it wasn’t. It was a fucking fight in the White House. Who cares?”

The 40-year-old actor said at the event that he told his wife it would be great to have more sporting events held at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, noting that some past presidents have held events on the White House lawn.

The “Night of Terror” host took umbrage with fans who said her late father, Ozzy Osbourne, would not have approved of her participation.

“You didn’t know my father. You didn’t know where he stood on these issues,” Osbourne said. “Yes, of course he wrote a song called ‘War Pigs’. It’s an anti-war song. It wasn’t anti-UFC. It wasn’t anti-go to an event at the White House. It was anti-war.”

He noted that his father attended the White House Correspondents’ Dinner during the Bush administration and showed a video of him jumping to his feet with excitement when addressed by the former president.

Ozzy also did USO tours and went to visit wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Medical Center, his son said.

“So, just shut up,” he added. “It’s complete madness to put my father in this situation by saying whether he approves or disapproves. I participated in a sporting event for a sport that I have great respect for and has been a part of my life since I can remember.”

“Then handle it, I’m sorry you weren’t invited.” he added.
