YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday alleged that the TDP-led coalition government is misusing the state’s police machinery to suppress political dissent and has failed to effectively address crimes affecting ordinary citizens.

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy, in a post on

Referring to several recent incidents, he cited as examples the alleged disappearance of a young girl from Kakinada district, the alleged sexual assault of a mentally challenged girl in Peddapuram, the alleged assault of a tribal woman in Kavali, the lock-up death case of Sai Krishna, the Kranti Kumar suicide case and the alleged custodial deaths of Gangamma and Tirupatamma.

The YSRCP chief claimed that these incidents reflected degradation in law enforcement and questioned the government’s commitment to public safety and justice.

The former Prime Minister also alleged that the government was using harsh, non-bailable sentencing provisions against social media activists and government critics and was trying to link such cases to organized crime.

He criticized the arrest of YouTube journalist KV Reddy and alleged procedural violations in the case; He also accused the government of targeting another YouTuber, Joseph Raavan, through multiple criminal cases despite him being released on bail.

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy also alleged that the government was using diversionary tactics to divert public attention from law and order related issues. He accused the ruling dispensations of encouraging political policing and undermining democratic values by intimidating critics rather than responding to public concerns.

Calling for constitutional policing, he said Andhra Pradesh needs a government that ensures safety and security of its citizens, protects constitutional rights and guarantees equal treatment before the law.
