ICE agent who shot Renee Good suffered internal bleeding, officials say

Jonathan Ross, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent who fatally shot Renee Good in Minneapolis last week, suffered internal bleeding in his torso following the incident, according to two U.S. officials briefed on his medical condition.

It is not yet known how much bleeding there is. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed Ross was injured but has not yet responded to CBS News’ request for more information. This story will be updated as we learn more.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem previously said Ross taken to hospital He was released the same day after being shot. The woman, who said she was recovering from her injuries, described him as an experienced law enforcement officer who believed he was protecting her and her fellow agents.

“The police officer was hit by a vehicle. The police officer hit him. He went to the hospital. A doctor treated him. He was released,” Noem told reporters on Jan. 7.

Ross, who has been a law enforcement officer with ICE for 10 years. seriously injured Court records show that in a separate incident in the Minneapolis area in June, he was dragged by a car during an arrest attempt, requiring 33 stitches and hospital care.

U.S. Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino said in an interview with CBS News on Sunday that Ross “has received many threats to his life” and said “he is in a safe place. He is recovering from his injuries and we are grateful that he is recovering.”
