Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo head to the BRITs as they send ‘thoughts and prayers’ to the Middle East as her sister and baby niece remain stuck in Dubai amid Iranian missile strikes

Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo headed to the 2026 BRIT Awards on Saturday, sending their ‘thoughts and prayers’ to the Middle East amid missile attacks.

Sophie’s sister Georgia, her husband and their young daughter are stranded in Dubai after an Iranian missile hits the famous Palm Jumeirah.

The couple put on brave faces as they attended the ceremony at Manchester Co-op Live Arena amid fears of an escalation of all-out war in the Middle East.

Georgia welcomed a baby girl, Bella, with her husband Tom Berry in November, with the family currently on holiday in the UAE.

Ahead of Jamie and Sophie attending the event, she wrote on her Instagram Story: ‘Thoughts and prayers to friends, family and people in the Middle East.’

A few hours later the couple were seen leaving their Manchester hotel and heading towards the arena, with Jamie holding Sophie’s hand as she helped her down the stairs.

Influencers in the busy city of Dubai expressed shock on social media at being caught in the retaliatory strikes, which came just hours after the United States and Israel launched an airstrike targeting the Iranian regime on Saturday morning.

The United States and Israel attacked targets in several Iranian cities, including the offices of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, on Saturday, creating explosions and clouds of smoke over the capital Tehran.

Missiles fired by Tehran hit US military bases in Qatar and also rained down on Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Bahrain and Israel.

Videos posted on social media show Dubai’s iconic Palm Jumeirah engulfed in flames after being hit by a suspected Iranian missile or missile debris.

According to the Dubai media office, it was said that four people were injured in the attack, while eyewitnesses stated that ambulances rushed to the scene.

Meanwhile, Israeli media are reporting “growing indications” that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed when his compound in Tehran was destroyed in an attack.

Officials have previously reported that the attacks caused “very serious damage” to the Iranian regime’s leaders and military commanders.

Khamenei has not been heard from since the US and Israel launched a bilateral attack on Iran on Saturday morning.

In Bahrain, officials confirmed that the headquarters of the US Navy’s 5th Fleet was targeted by a missile strike; In the images shared on social media, a large cloud of smoke rising into the sky is seen.

As a result of Israel’s missile intervention, explosions were also heard in Damascus, Syria, and Sidon, southern Lebanon.

The operation was called ‘Lion’s Roar’ by Israel and ‘Epic Rage’ by the US Department of Defense, and Trump changed this name to the Ministry of War.

While it is understood that England did not participate in the attacks, it was learned that Sir Keir Starmer will chair the meeting of the Government’s emergency Cobra committee today.

In a joint statement with the leaders of France and Germany, Sir Keir Starmer condemned Iran’s attacks on its neighbors, saying Iran should “refrain from indiscriminate military attacks”.

While UK citizens were called for asylum by the British embassy in Doha, Qatar also warned its citizens to stay inside and stay away from military bases.

Britain withdrew its diplomatic staff from Iran on Friday over security concerns, while staff at the British embassy in Tel Aviv and their dependents were relocated by the Foreign Office.

The UK Government said its priority was the ‘safety of UK citizens’ in the Middle East but that it was ‘prepared to protect our interests’.

A Government spokesman said: ‘Iran must never be allowed to develop nuclear weapons and we have therefore consistently supported efforts to reach a negotiated solution.

‘Our immediate priority is the safety of UK citizens in the region and we will provide them with consular assistance 24/7.

‘As part of our long-standing commitments to the security of our allies in the Middle East, we have a range of defense capabilities in the region that we have recently strengthened. We are ready to protect our interests.

‘We do not want to see a wider regional conflict escalate further.’
