JD Vance shares ‘crazy’ story about ICE, CBP officers in Minneapolis

Vice Mayor J.D. Vance shared a “crazy” account Sunday that underscores the dangers federal immigration officers face amid a series of agent-involved shootings and growing unrest in Minneapolis.

Describing a recent visit to the city, Vance described an incident in which off-duty Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers had their personal information deleted while dining at a restaurant.

According to Vance, their location was made public, the restaurant was attacked, and the officers were effectively trapped inside.

“I heard some crazy stories while I was in Minneapolis. But top of the list: Several off-duty ICE and CBP officers were going to dinner in Minneapolis,” Vance wrote to X.

Vance said local police refused to respond when officers called for help.

“Officers were locked in the restaurant and local police refused to respond to their requests for assistance (as they were directed by local authorities),” he wrote. “Finally, his fellow federal agents came to their aid.”

“This is just a small part of what is going on in Minneapolis as state and local officials refuse to cooperate with immigration enforcement,” Vance wrote. “They create chaos so that we can have moments like yesterday, when someone dies tragically and politicians tribune about the evils of pushing the envelope.”

Vance urged Minneapolis officials to change course.

“The solution is staring everyone in the face. I hope the authorities in Minneapolis will stop this madness.”

A day earlier, Vance had described the unrest in Minnesota as “premeditated chaos” following another deadly federal agent-involved shooting.

On Saturday, Alex Pretti, 37, a Minneapolis nurse who was carrying a licensed handgun while protesting a federal immigration enforcement operation, was fatally shot by a U.S. Border Patrol agent.

Authorities said Pretti resisted arrest after trying to interfere with the operation.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
