JD(U) Releases First List of Candidates

Patna: Janata Dal (United) on Wednesday announced its first list of 57 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, according to an official statement from the party.

According to the statement, the list of Janata Dal (U) candidates in the first phase of the 2025 Bihar Legislative Assembly Elections has been approved by the party’s National President Nitish Kumar.

The party has endorsed JD(U) state chief Umesh Khushwaha for Mahanar, Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar for Nalanda and Sunil Kumar for Bhore (SC) for the Bihar Assembly elections.

Earlier, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday released its first list of 71 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, according to the official party statement.

The Central Election Committee fielded Mangal Pandey for Siwan, Tarkishore Prasad for Katihar, Ramkripal Yadav for Danapur, Nitin Nabin for Bankipur, Renu Devi for Bettiah, Prem Kumar for Gaya Town, Shreyasi Singh for Jamui, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha for Lakhisarai and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat. approved. Chaudhary for Tarapur among others.

Jan Suraaj also led his rivals in ticket distribution by releasing another list of 65 candidates for the upcoming Bihar elections on Monday.

Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor had stated a day ago that the list reflects the party’s effort to provide representation to various sections in proportion to their population.

“Of the 116 names released in the list, 25 were reserved. Of the 91 seats being released for the general category, 31 are allocated to the EBC community, 21 to the OBC community, and 21 to the Muslim community,” he said at a press conference.

The first candidate list announced on October 9 included the names of 51 candidates for the Bihar Assembly elections.

While the NDA has finalized the distribution of seats among its voters for the Bihar elections, the Mahagathbandhan is yet to do so. The Election Commission on Monday issued notification for the second phase of assembly elections in the state.

Bihar will go to polls on November 6 and November 11 and the votes will be counted on November 14. The total number of voters in the final list is 7.42 crore.

The ruling NDA decided to distribute tickets on Sunday. BJP and JD(U) will contest on 101 seats each, while Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) will contest on 29 seats. Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) will contest six seats each.

Voting for the 243-seat Bihar Assembly will be held on November 6 and November 11, and counting will be held on November 14.
