Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez ‘paid $10m to cozy up to Anna Wintour as co-hosts of Met Gala,’ insider claims

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez made their debut on Monday as honorary co-chairs of this year’s Met Gala, but the honor didn’t come without a hefty price.

The high-energy couple allegedly paid $10 million for the privilege of being in the company of former Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, as well as a long list of other stars including Beyonce, Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams. Page Six.

Sources claimed the move tipped Bezos, 62, and Sanchez, 56, in favor of Wintour, 76, who used the high-profile event to raise money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute, which she has spearheaded since 1995.

The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Bezos, Sanchez and Wintour for comment.

‘Bezos are where the American dream is right now, in terms of status, wealth and style,’ William Norwich, former editor of Vogue, told Page Six.

‘They display conspicuous consumption’ [and] they have ‘AWOK’ – Anna Wintour OK.’

The couple’s names are included in the invitations of this year’s gala, which has the theme of ‘Costume Art’.

Some fashion watchers see this aspect of gratuitous giving (giving something to get something) as a stain on the whole issue, which used to focus on philanthropy but has now morphed into a celebrity spectacle.

‘I’m heartbroken,’ said one frequent Met Gala attendee. ‘It means being able to buy yourself’ [the good graces of] Anna and Met.’

Last year’s Met Gala raised $31 million, marking the highest total in the event’s 77-year history.

The Bezoses will also be able to sit with their close friend Kris Jenner, whom they invited to their summer wedding in Venice, Italy.

The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for the Bezoses and Wintour but has yet to hear back.

Sanchez famously showcased her June wedding to the billionaire Amazon founder on Vogue’s digital cover, which earned her another nod from Wintour.

Earlier this year, the fashion icon resigned as editor-in-chief of American Vogue, passing the torch to Candice Bergen and Chloe Malle, daughter of the late French filmmaker Louis Malle.

The newlyweds, who tied the knot in a lavish Venetian wedding in June, met King George III at the White House on Tuesday. He attended the state dinner held in honor of Charles and Queen Camilla.

Wintour also had the chance to spend time with Queen Camilla during the royal family’s visit at a literary event at the New York Public Library on Wednesday.

Wintour retains the dual titles of Condé Nast’s Chief Content Officer and Vogue’s Global Editorial Director.

On Tuesday, Sanchez and Bezos met with King George III. He attended the official state dinner held in his honor at the White House in honor of Charles and Queen Camilla.

Sanchez wore a low-cut black dress and was said to have a 200-carat emerald on her.

Meanwhile, the former journalist recently announced that she would have a baby with Bezos “tomorrow” if she had the opportunity.

The two have seven children, but Sanchez wants to expand his blended family even further.

Sanchez’s spokesperson later revealed that the former news anchor, who has Nikko, 25, with ex-partner Tony Gonzales and Evan, 19, and Ella, 18, with ex-husband Patrick Whitesell, is not expecting another child.

Sanchez hailed Bezos as his ‘best friend’ and stated that he knew he could talk to him about anything, telling the publication: ‘I talk to him about everything. Everything! “Jeff is my best friend and I don’t take that lightly,” she said, adding, “He looks good, right?” ‘It looks good.’
