Jefferson Lewis charged with murder and sexual offences over death of Kumanjayi Little Baby in Alice Springs

A 47-year-old man has been charged with murder and sexual offenses over the death of a five-year-old girl in Alice Springs.

Northern Territory Police confirmed Sunday morning that Jefferson Lewis, who was arrested Thursday night, has been formally charged with murder and two counts of sexual intercourse without consent.

He was remanded in custody and is expected to appear in Darwin Local Court on Tuesday.

The charges come after Little Baby Kumanjayi’s body was found on Thursday about 5 kilometers from the Old Timers camp where he was last seen late April 25.
