Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng files restraining order against firefighter
JEFFERSON PARISH, LA. (WGNO) — Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng filed a temporary restraining order against Jefferson Parish firefighter Stephen Orkus Jr. on Nov. 7.
This application came after a heated discussion between the two at the Jefferson Parish Council meeting on Wednesday, November 5th. The community and firefighters disagreed over firefighter pay.
“Aggressive behavior has been evolving in many different ways for months, but comments at this week’s council meeting about knowing where I was going and having all eyes and ears on me crossed the line,” Lee Sheng said in a statement.

“Part of my mission is to create safe workplace conditions, and no church employee, including me, should be subjected to this type of language. I always welcome constructive criticism and differences of opinion, but this type of behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.”
A hearing has been set for Thursday, November 13.
WGNO reached out to the Jefferson Fire Fighters Association and received no comment.
