MS NOW host Jen Psaki squashed talk of using the 25th Amendment against President Donald Trump during an interview with Stephen A. Smith on Thursday, questioning why Democrats are so focused on it when it “will never happen.”

Smith asked Psaki during her show “Straight Shooter” that the left is “fervently opposed to the other side,” which seems “disgusting.”

“There are times, I think there are a lot of people — and I can’t speak for everyone on the left, nor do I agree with everything everyone on the left says — you know, sometimes that’s not constructive,” Psaki said. “I mean, you mentioned the 25th Amendment. I have no problem with people saying they’re in favor of the 25th Amendment, but it’s not going to happen. So it’s like, why are we wasting so much time, you know?”

Smith also shut down rumors about using the 25th Amendment against Trump.

Calls for the 25th Amendment have come from many Democratic lawmakers, as well as other Trump critics such as former GOP lawmaker Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Psaki said some Democrats, especially progressives, feel their entire identity is being challenged by the Trump administration, but she also said the party needs to be able to reach more people to win elections.

“It’s also true that to win you have to invite more people to the party,” he said. “So, if you want to win, you have to accept that sometimes people who are part of your party or who you don’t agree with on 100% of the issues are welcome at the event or in the conversation. And I think sometimes it can feel like a little bit of a litmus test for who’s allowed to be a Democrat or who can consider themselves a progressive.”

Psaki added that Democrats’ instinct to “scream” about everything Trump does isn’t working.

“And some of that goes hand in hand with having to scream at the top of your lungs about everything that comes out of the Trump administration,” he said. “And a lot of that makes me angry. But I don’t think screaming about everything is the most constructive thing.”

More than 50 Democratic lawmakers have called on Trump’s Cabinet to effectively remove him from office using the 25th Amendment, arguing that Trump is unfit to serve over his comments and actions regarding Iran. Their demands were fueled by the Iranian government’s statement on social media that “an entire civilization will die” if it does not agree to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

“I absolutely think the president should be impeached,” said Sen. Andy Kim, D-N.J. “So, he’s unfit for office. I think it’s the 25th Amendment, if not impeachment.”
