Jeremy Corbyn’s new party implodes as MP blasts ‘prejudice against Muslim men’ | Politics | News

Jeremy Corbyn’s new party collapsed after an MP resigned over what he claimed was “implicit bias” against Muslim men. This took place just two weeks before your first Party conference in Liverpool.

Adnan Hussain, MP for Blackburn and executive member of the Left party, stood down on Thursday 13 November. He claimed that your party’s culture was “dominated by constant internal strife” and cited “very serious and damaging internal disagreements” in his decision. On Friday, Hussain said he was “deeply disturbed by the way some members of the administration, particularly Muslim men, are spoken about and treated.”

As reported by TimesHe added: “The rhetoric used at times is disturbingly similar to the political forces the left claims to oppose. I have witnessed insinuations about abilities, condescending attitudes, and language conveying at least implicit bias.”

Your party leaders Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana have been at the center of a public debate over donations worth hundreds of thousands of pounds. The row comes as former Labor MPs are vying to become the party’s puppets.

Corbyn and four other Independence Alliance MPs, including Hussain, said the money donated to the party was “unattainable”. Sultana reportedly offered to transfer £600,000 from a company the party founders set up earlier this year.

But Corbyn’s allies are said to have turned down the offer and accused Sultana of playing “political games” with fans’ money. It has since been confirmed that the first £200,000 has been sent and a spokesperson for Sultana confirmed that it is “working to transfer all funds and data to your Party”.

In the statement made by Corbyn, Shockat Adam, Hussain, Ayoub Khan and Iqbal Mohamed, it was said: “The founding purpose of your party is to stand with the majority against the minority that holds wealth and power in our country. A special team of volunteers is working on a limited budget to organize a founding conference at the end of the month.

“Their efforts are heroic, but your Party’s capacity has been severely constrained by a lack of funding. Hundreds of thousands of pounds were donated to the party in good faith by supporters, but it has remained out of reach ever since. This has been extremely frustrating and discouraging.”

They added that the “small portion” of funds sent to the party on Thursday were “insufficient”. The group continued: “In addition to resolving any ongoing legal issues, we will continue to ensure the immediate transfer of all money donated by supporters towards the establishment of a new party.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Sultana said: “While briefings regarding possible liabilities have been exaggerated and misguided at best, it is legally responsible for the proper administration of the company, including arranging requested refunds and meeting other obligations. All remaining funds will be transferred to You once the company’s costs and liabilities have been paid in full.”
