Jeremy Jacquet: Liverpool agree £60m deal for Rennes defender

Liverpool They have agreed a £60m deal for Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet but the centre-half will not join the club in the current transfer window.
The 20-year-old, who is subject to a medical, will join the Reds in the summer after the clubs agreed a fee of £55 million plus £5 million in add-ons.
Personal conditions are not expected to pose a problem for the France Under-21 National Team.
It is known that Chelsea were in talks with Jacquet during the winter, but it is not yet known whether they will try to meet Liverpool’s offer.
Liverpool are looking to increase their centre-back options as French defender Ibrahima Konate’s current contract expires at the end of this season.
Arne Slot’s side missed out on Marc Guehi last summer, with the England centre-half opting to join Manchester City in January.
Jacquet came through the Rennes academy and has made 18 appearances for the club this season. His remarkable performances made him a target of some of Europe’s elite teams. Liverpool, on the other hand, see him as a long-term investment.
