Jessica Simpson fires back at ex Nick Lachey after he revealed she sat in first class while her kids flew coach to Hawaii
Jessica Simpson has hit back just days after her ex-husband Nick Lachey revealed he was flying first class while the rest of his family sat on the bus on a recent flight.
Lachey, 52, claimed that while traveling to Hawaii last month, she saw Simpson, 45, sitting in the premium section without her three children (Maxwell, 14, Ace, 12, and Birdie, seven) and her estranged husband Eric Johnson, 46.
The statement sparked headlines and fans flocked to social media to share their differing opinions on Simpson’s unusual plane seating arrangement.
On Wednesday, Simpson broke his silence on the matter, confirming to photographers at LAX that Lachey was telling the truth. PageSix.
But the singer/actress insisted it wasn’t her fault that her children and Johnson were stuck in economy on the more than six-hour flight.
“My mother bought these tickets,” said the 45-year-old blonde. ‘Going to Hawaii was my mother’s gift to us.’

Simpson’s mother, Tina Ann Drew, works with the star on his burgeoning fashion empire.
Airport photographers then asked Simpson if she would sit with her children if she had arranged the trip herself.
‘Certainly!’ The Dukes Of Hazzard actor replied.
Simpson was not asked why her husband, Johnson, was also on the trip with them in the midst of their separation.
The former boy bander confirmed TMZ’s reports of his fight with Simpson during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen last week.
‘You know, it’s been 20 years since… and we hadn’t seen each other in those 20 years, and then we spent six and a half hours on a flight to Hawaii,’ he said. ‘But when I said I spent time in the same vicinity.’
Lachey revealed that he was on the plane with his “entire family,” including his wife, Vanessa Lachey.
But he later added that Simpson was in first grade with his mother, Tina Ann Drew.
‘Everyone was very, very friendly, very respectful,’ he said. He later added that Simpson’s ex-wife, Johnson, and their children were also on the plane, but they were seated in a different section of the plane.

‘I think her kids and her, I don’t know where they stand at this point, but her husband? “But they were all on the plane, but they’re not with us,” Lachey said. ‘Honestly it was good!’
Cohen then pointed out that the children were placed in a ‘separate service class’.
‘Were the children in a separate service class?’ Cohen explained.
“Yes,” Lachey replied, looking uncomfortable. ‘Separate service class.’
The Daily Mail has reached out to Simpson’s representatives for comment.
Last month TMZ reported that the former couple remained uncomfortable during the encounter.
Simpson allegedly “switched seats with someone from his group” to get away from Lachey, whose face “turned bright red” when he saw him.
According to the site, the two had “zero interaction” when he realized he was on the same plane as his ex.
