Delta Airlines On Monday, it introduced an updated Delta One suite for some of its longest-haul planes; This marks the first renewal of the top-level seat in a decade as airline competition for affluent travelers has increased.

The new suites, which Delta says will debut on its Airbus A350-1000 aircraft in 2027, will feature beds that are 3 inches longer than the old suites and a new pillow-top cushion. Mauricio Parise, Delta’s vice president of brand experience, said the new design will provide passengers with more leg and knee room.

“Most customers are side sleepers,” and the new designs can accommodate them, he said.

Parise said Delta had its customers test the new suites for “hours” at the company’s headquarters.

The airline’s Delta One business class cabin was introduced on A350s nearly a decade ago; There were reclining beds, doors and a “do not disturb” button.

“We made the first move, [and] Parise said he started flying with doors in 2017. “There is an element of development.”

There will be 50 suites on A350-1000s allocated to long-haul flights.

The changes come as industry profit leader Delta and other airlines revamp their cabins, adding more expensive and profitable premium seats as wealthier customers continue to see results.

Premium ticket revenue from first class and other pricier options compared to bus rose 14% in the first quarter last year, the company said. Meanwhile, main cabin revenue increased for the first time since late 2024.

Delta’s rival United Airlineslast month it unveiled its new long-haul Polaris suite at the carrier’s hangar at Los Angeles International Airport and a host of other products aimed at giving passengers the chance to pay more for additional space; These ranged from three-seat bus benches that convert into beds to both reclining and first-class economy seats in narrow-body Airbus jets.
