Jimmy Kimmel opens ‘Big, Beautiful Food Bank’ as Snap cuts hit families amid shutdown | Jimmy Kimmel

The late night TV show Jimmy Kimmel Live! is stepping in to help during the ongoing U.S. federal government shutdown by opening a new center for food donations.

The ABC show announced the show titled “Jimmy Kimmel Live Big, Beautiful Food Bank.” Instagram On Tuesday, just after Donald Trump reaffirmed his plan to block Snap benefits despite a federal judge’s previous order that the administration use emergency funds to maintain the food aid program.

“Cutting SNAP benefits creates uncertainty for American children, seniors and families,” the post said. “To support our community members in need, we are launching a donation center in our Hollywood backlot to benefit @LAFoodBank and @StJosephCtr… If you are in Los Angeles please come by to donate food and if you are not please consider supporting your local food banks.”

The message also stated that private donations of crackers, trail mix, fruit snacks, 100% juice boxes, dried fruit, cereal boxes, wipes, diapers, facial cleanser, deodorant, soap, lotions, oral hygiene items and feminine products would be welcomed.

Trump before Kimmel’s statement sent On its platform, Truth Social, Snap said its benefits “will only be given when Radical Left Democrats open the government” and that the benefits are “indiscriminately ‘given’ to anyone who wants it, as opposed to just those who need it, which is the purpose of SNAP.”

Kimmel, known for his outspoken criticism of the Trump administration, also recently took aim at the president’s Great Gatsby-themed Halloween celebration.

“You know, hours before millions of Americans lose food aid, throwing a party at your private golf club where the theme is rich white people might be Trump’s most Trumpian move of all time,” Kimmel said Monday night. “It felt like the last big party before the Epstein files came out.”

Meanwhile, Kimmel’s popularity has soared and Trump’s has reportedly increased, according to a recent poll, following a dispute with management that resulted in his show being briefly taken off the air in September.

Kimmel’s suspension was announced Sept. 17 after he criticized the administration’s handling of last week’s killing of right-wing political activist Charlie Kirk. Federal Communications Commission chairman and Trump ally Brendan Carr allegedly threatened to revoke ABC affiliates’ licenses if the network did not take action against Kimmel.

The decision sparked protests, debates over free speech, and boycotts targeting ABC’s parent company, Disney. The network reinstated Kimmel six days later, and many of his industry colleagues noted that the reinstatement was for those who participated in the boycott.
