Horror college ‘attack’ as students ‘screaming and calling their mums crying’ | UK | News

Police have arrested two boys after a student was injured in an alleged assault at a college in Berkshire, Thames Valley Police said. Following the incident, armed police were dispatched to Reading College on King’s Road in Reading on the afternoon of Thursday, November 6th.

Members of the public were told to avoid the area while officers worked to “resolve the situation.” Following the intervention of the police, the university was quarantined. It was reported that students who panicked were crying and calling their mothers. In an update on the day of the incident, police said: “We are aware of an assault with injuries in Kings Road, Reading. A child has been injured and is receiving medical treatment.”

“The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated in hospital,” they added.

Police have since said the teenage victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and has been released.

Police said two people were arrested in connection with the incident earlier today.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article in a Section 18 school/further education facility.

Thames Valley Police said a 16-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent.

Both remain in custody and police say they are not considering making any further arrests at this time.

Police had previously said that, contrary to media reports, the incident was “not classed as a major incident by the force”.

It has been confirmed that the university will open as normal today (Friday, November 7).
