Jio enters global top 20 list in WIPO patent rankings

He noted that Reliance Industries’ technology arm has increased its ranking by 320 places in 2025 compared to the previous year, making it one of the world’s fastest-rising innovators globally and placing it among the elite group of global technology leaders, including Huawei, Samsung, Qualcomm, LG, Panasonic, Nokia, Google, Apple and Microsoft.
The ranking is based on the number of published PCT applications attributed to the applicant during the year. Jio had 90 published PCT apps in 2023, 87 in 2024 and 1,058 in 2025.
Jio said its patent portfolio focuses on next-generation digital technologies, including 5G, advanced 5G, 6G, artificial intelligence, AI native networks, cloud native platforms, intelligent automation, radio access, core network software, edge intelligence, fixed wireless access, network slicing and digital service infrastructure.

Jio Platforms reported that it had filed 6,817 patent applications as of March 31, 2026. Of these, 2,393 were filed in India and 4,424 in foreign jurisdictions. The company said a total of 1,009 patents have been granted globally, including 538 in India and 471 in international markets.
