JJM works: MSME contractors flag mounting dues, urge Pawan Kalyan’s intervention

Navyandhra RWS Contractors Association, in a letter to Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, has highlighted the severe financial crisis affecting over 750 MSME contractors involved in Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) works.
Srinivasa Prasad Koneru, general secretary of the association, in his letter dated March 29, alleged that there were significant delays in payments and a bias in allocation of funds in favor of large corporate firms.
He said that of the ₹1,331 crore released since February 2025, corporate entities have received ₹932 crore, while MSME contractors have been allocated only ₹263 crore. He added that the disparity further increased in March 2026 when ₹562 crore was released to corporate firms compared to only ₹85.88 crore for 442 MSME contractors.
The association said the pending bills as of March 19 were ₹ 1,492 crore and ₹ 850 crore belonged to MSMEs alone. Contractors claim long delays have left them in financial trouble, with many accounts becoming non-performing assets and unable to pay workers.
Warning of protests, the association stated that thousands of families dependent on these small businesses are at risk and called on the government to pay the dues immediately.
