Patancheru Darwaza Lies In Utter Neglect

Hyderabad:Patancheru Darwaza, one of the eight main gates of the historic Golconda Fort, is neglected and neglected; Its entrance has now become a dumping ground filled with garbage, mud and overgrown plants. The once magnificent structure, a protected archaeological site, has become a hotspot for anti-social activities due to years of official indifference.
Locals say the site has not been maintained for several years. “The structure is buried under garbage and dense vegetation. The road leading to the Petla Burj area inside the fort is also in a terrible state and there is no proper walking path. Officials of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) should examine the area and take immediate steps to revitalize it,” Mohd said. Habeebuddin, resident of Golconda.
He added that cracks have appeared in the inner courtyard of Patancheru Darwaza, which is quite large, due to uncontrolled vegetation. “The seams have opened in many places and need to be repaired urgently before the damage becomes irreversible,” he said.
Ms. Saleem, a resident of the area, called on both the ASI and the Telangana Tourism Department to intervene. “If the authorities appoint security personnel and workers to maintain the site, it will help preserve a large part of the fort and will also attract more tourists. Beautification and better maintenance can bring back the glory of this historical gateway,” he said.
He also pointed out that the road leading to the Petla Burj in the fort, where one of the largest cannons is located, was poorly maintained and lacked proper steps. “If this section is developed, visitors to the castle can also see the ball and learn more about its history,” he added.
Responding to concerns, an ASI Hyderabad official said plans were in place to develop the outer wall of the fort. “We have requested the state government to address local maintenance issues.
