John Cena’s wrestling career will be over in two months, with his final match taking place on December 13 at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, DC.

The never-before-seen 17-time world champion has four dates left in his career, but the only unknown is who Cena will fight to end his career.

Cena posted a cryptic post on Instagram early Tuesday that featured a photo of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning shaking hands — Cena didn’t offer any caption.

Fans began to wonder if Cena had unceremoniously told fans who his final opponent would be; many believed it could be Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Like Brady and Manning, Johnson and Cena are considered among the all-time greats who dominated the ring together in their respective careers.

Johnson hasn’t appeared at a WWE event since Cena’s recovery from his tag team with The Rock in February, but Cena returned to being a babyface ahead of “SummerSlam.”

But others think the message was code for Edge, who was arguably Cena’s greatest rival throughout his illustrious career.

Others thought he was actually paying homage to his match against AJ Styles in Australia last weekend; Here, the duo paid tribute to many wrestlers of the past with their signature finishers.

The Rock is on the TKO board and was asked by Travis and Jason Kelce who Cena’s final opponent should be on “New Heights.” Rock paused briefly and laughed a little before explaining.

“I had some influence on the booking, but really, that’s who John wants. It comes down to that. It’s not about me or Nick Kan or Triple H, it’s whoever John wants.” he said. That man deserved it.”

The clocks turned back a few times on Cena’s farewell tour this year, as Cena also feuded with Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar.
