John Kaldor and Thomas Demand collaborate on AGNSW’s The Object Lesson

The radical solution of the demand was to suspend the works he chose on large panels hanging from the ceiling, more than 30 square meters.

“It is not an engineering success that means that these things are hanged so beautifully, Kal says Kaldor. “There is really heavy work.”

Christo and Jeanne-Claude are among the artists represented by the show; Gilbert & George; Andreas Gursky and Francis Alÿs.

The demand was based on the drawing of the monumental design of the American artist Sol Lewitt, who was exhibited at the entrance.

“You go in as an audience, and then suddenly you notice, actually walk in a drawing, or he says.

The demand, a sculptor and photographer who has a deep interest in architecture, was clearly clear that from the very beginning, visitors had to choose their own ways and suck as they wish.

“There are many architects trying to tell you where to go as a visitor, or he says. “Here, you have to find your own track. There is no direction you need to go and what you have to do.

“I hope this is a Kaleydoscope. Wherever you walk around, there are suddenly unexpected color combinations, spatial experiences. And it travels a little in this area.”

The desire to embrace the risk and find solutions marked Kaldor’s projects since the beginning.

Remember his audacity Wrapped shoreWhen Christo covered 2.5 kilometers Little Bay with fabric and rope.

“We were very lucky, Kal says Kaldor. “Very lucky. First, we got permission. Second, no one was hurt. So, our security ropes, helmets, we had nothing. And there were hundreds of children on the site and no wounded.

“I went there three years ago to look at the site… And he said, John, you must even be cotton from your mind to think. But don’t worry when you are young.”

The object lesson has a swan atmosphere and a life devoted to a contemporary art for a 89’li Kaldor. However, he says he does not necessarily draw a line under public art projects.

Orum I always say it is the art that keeps me young, or he says. “I can’t sit in motion. Not in my nature. I don’t have any planned projects [currently]. But I didn’t plan it either – he was offered to me. So we will see. “
