Jorden Turney: Man calls for ‘justice’ after murder charge
An emotional man accused of murdering a woman appeared in court with tears streaming down his face.
According to Victoria Police, emergency services located a 29-year-old woman with critical injuries at a home on Generation Dr in North Clyde at around 6.30pm on Sunday night.
The woman suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital, where she later died.
A 32-year-old man believed to be acquainted with the woman was arrested at the scene, police said in a statement.
The following day Jorden Turney appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court where he was visibly emotional.
Wearing a blue T-shirt and flanked by two detention officers, Mr Turney was seen with a red face and crying, wiping his eyes with a tissue.
He also took a deep breath as he nodded toward the hearing.
The court was told police had taken longer than usual to prepare the case, prompting phone analysis and forensic investigations that were expected to cause delays.
Mr Turney’s lawyer also stated that his client had a “history of psychiatric illness” and requested that he be seen by a custody nurse.
He was detained by judge Vincenzo Caltabiano to return to court on November 30.
Before leaving, Mr. Turney thanked the judge and said; “Make sure you bring this case to justice.”
