Apparently Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor don’t believe in love at first sight.
The two superstars are the faces of the New York Mets, a team that should be a threat to the majors but is actually one of the worst teams in the league.
Lindor joined the Mets via trade in 2021 and signed a 10-year, $341 million extension; This is the first major move that signals a real changing of the guard for new owner Steve Cohen; But nearly four years later, Soto joined the fray with a record 15-year, $765 million deal.

There were numerous reports circulating last year that the pair did not get along, this was the first time they had failed to get along as teammates and this was an ongoing problem this season. Perhaps Soto’s deal, which included increased security, suites and the potential to earn another $50 million, caused a power trip between the two stars.
At any rate, by this week the story was beginning to end; until Cohen said the reports were almost all true, but they got along better.
“I honestly think this is the story of last year,” Cohen said. New York Post. “I’ve been told that these guys are getting along a lot better, and I firmly believe that. So I don’t see that as a problem anymore.”
This led to both Soto and Lindor being asked about their relationship on Friday night, and Soto had an interesting comparison.
“When you meet a girl, don’t start kissing her right away,” he said Athletic.

But Soto said there were “no problems” between the two, despite reports saying otherwise.
“It’s natural that our relationship will continue to grow the more time we spend together,” Lindor said in a statement to the press. “We’ve been teammates for two years. Time is on our side. I have nothing but respect for him. He’s my brother. He’s someone I respect from a distance and I respect him from the inside as well.”
There were reports this season that Lindor and Soto’s lockers were moved to different sides of the clubhouse, and fans were perplexed that the two didn’t exactly share the friendliest banter on Opening Day.
The Athletic reported that the two stars had “tough talks” recently, but Lindor dismissed the idea.
“We just talked. We talk every day, whether it’s a goal or different topics. But we definitely talk because at the end of the day, we are teammates and our job is to win games,” he said.
