Fadnavis backs ex-CJI amid row over meeting with Dhirendra Shastri

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday came out in support of former Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai after he courted controversy and faced criticism for his meeting with Dhirendra Shastri, the chief priest of Bageshwar Dham in Madhya Pradesh.

Social activist and founder president of Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti, Shyam Manav, criticized Justice Gavai for his meeting with Mr. Shastri and said: “He [CJI Gavai] Dr. BR Ambedkar has no right to mention his name.”
