Europe retains cup after defeating US, ending week of high drama
The longest shots caught the momentum and at some point closed the European leadership to 13½-10½. However, in the afternoon, Shane Lowry managed to close a two -hole gap to the last four holes against Russell Henley, provided a tie and provided the last half point that Europeans should stay with a six -meter putt in number 18.
“This has been a few hardest hours in my entire life, Low Lowry said with tears. “To be honest, I can’t believe that Putt is in.”

Europe won the first four sessions of the event – a first for a visit to the first four sessions of the event as the Americans received very little production from their biggest stars. Until Sunday morning, thanks to McILOY and CO’s powerful game, one of the most anticipated Ryder Cups turned into one of the most ancient.
However, the Americans sent their first three victories and showed the symptoms of life early. Cameron Young and Justin Thomas sank their birds in the 18th hole to break late ties in their matches. The seven-point open, eight matches continued to fall to 12-8.
Young, a ryder cup rookie, in the last hole in a 12 -meter sinking 1 up, somehow raised the volume further up for the noisy crowd.
Scottie Scheffler, the world’s highest -level player, who lost four of the matches in the first two days, finally got one point on the board of the United States, and McILOY took 1 to the top to inject more drama.

The Ryder Cup is becoming more and more difficult to win on the road. In 2012, Europeans did this at Medina Country Club because they did this in the Foreign Soil. However, the advantage of the home field, including a preferred course order and a partisan crowd, has become more prominent in each passing competition. The host country, in fact, earned at least five points in each of the last five tournaments.
Until Sunday.
In order to secure the Ryder Cup, Europeans had to be barrel not only from the best US golfers, but also from a passionate and sometimes rebellious Long Island crowd. During these last three days, the galleries in Bethpage were loud and immoral, insulting and cursing visiting Europeans. Sometimes they crossed the line.
In the afternoon of Saturday, he accompanied McILOY and Lowry’s group and sometimes created a barrier between fans and players. While fighting with the 36 -year -old Northern Irish Scheffler, the crowd was especially rough again in McILOY.
The scorebord changed before a shot on Sunday: Viktor Hovland from Europe retreated due to neck complaint. In accordance with the Ryder Cup rules, in case of withdrawal, the player’s match is considered a tie and each team wins half a point. This gave Europe 12-5 advantages and meant that visitors started to play on Sunday and needed only two points to protect the Ryder Cup or began to play 2½ to win openly.
