Kai Trump: US President’s grandaughter last after first round on LPGA debut

Kai Trump finished the first day of the Annika tournament in last place, posting an average of over 13 in her LPGA debut.

The 18-year-old amateur, who is the grandson of US President Donald Trump, hit two double bogeys and 9 bogeys in the opening round in Florida.

He played in just three events this year and is ranked 461st in the American Junior Golf Association rankings.

Trump received a sponsor exemption to play at Annika but finished the first day 19 points behind, four strokes behind his nearest rival and six points behind South Korea’s Haeran Ryu.

The LPGA said his “wide following and reach helped introduce golf to new audiences, especially younger fans.”

Trump has more than six million followers on social media and recently launched his own clothing and lifestyle brand.

Charley Hull from England and Leona Maguire from Ireland were three shots behind with a score of 3-under-par 67.
