A homeless man was stabbed to death Sunday morning after illegal immigrant youths allegedly ambushed him. Wuinayker Rodriguez-Vasquez, 16, and two unnamed 14-year-olds have been charged in connection with the fatal attack of 49-year-old Bradley Obeirne, which took place in front of his cat, according to police. The horrific incident took place around 5:45 a.m. in Chicago’s Loop area. Venezuelan youths allegedly spotted the homeless man outside a restaurant with a shopping cart containing his belongings, including his cat and a skeleton mask.

CCTV footage reportedly showed one of the 14-year-old youths hitting Mr Obeirne with a metal bar while others ran towards him and stole his mask. Other members of the group fled, but Rodriguez-Vasquez turned and kicked the man, leading to a fight in the street, according to local police. Meanwhile, the 16-year-old young man allegedly took out a knife from his arm and stabbed the victim in the back, leaving him on the pavement due to blood loss.

Prosecutors allege that in a video taken after the attack, Rodriguez-Vasquez displayed the knife on the train and made stabbing movements while wearing the stolen mask.

Samuel Alvarado Moreno, 23, was also allegedly part of the group and was charged with criminal damage to property.

Prosecutors say Mr Obeirne lay helpless on the street for some time after he was stabbed, and a passerby called emergency services.

Police announced that they found a bicycle used by one of the attackers at the scene. Mr. Obeirne’s cat was also given to Chicago Animal Care and Control.

Security cameras captured the suspects wearing the same clothes as during the attack.

Rodriguez-Vasquez was allegedly found with a knife and is now facing first-degree murder charges and will be tried as an adult. He is a Venezuelan citizen who has been living in Chicago for two years, according to authorities.

The Department of Homeland Security told Fox News that he is believed to have entered the United States illegally in September 2023 in Texas and has been documented as a case of “alien inadmissibility,” meaning he is a person not allowed to enter or remain in the United States.

Two 14-year-old teenagers will appear in juvenile court. The person who stole the victim’s mask will reportedly be charged with robbery, while the other will be charged with first-degree murder.

Authorities claimed the suspects did not know the victim.
