Former White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre wrote in her new book that she does not think former Vice President Kamala Harris will win the election.

“When I woke up, it was over. Harris had lost. I got calls from friends who were distraught or numb with disbelief. But I wasn’t surprised by the outcome. The truth is, I never really believed Harris could win. I had been in a black woman’s body my entire life. I had stood at the podium in the White House briefing room, wandered through rural towns with my chocolate skin, and all my experiences of angry stares and racist assumptions had vanished.” “I can’t see this country electing a president who looks like me,” he wrote in his book “Independent.”

Jean-Pierre’s new book details his decision to leave the Democratic Party, citing what he believes were betrayals of former President Joe Biden.

The former press secretary wrote that she felt pessimistic about Harris because of her own experiences in office, facing misogyny, sexism and double standards.

“Harris and many others fought hard and hoped so much. I wanted to believe. I wanted to believe. But in the end I was proven right. The United States was not there yet. Once again, and this time not because of an electoral structure enshrined in the Constitution, we had elected Trump,” Jean-Pierre wrote.

Throughout his book, Jean-Pierre called out the Democratic Party, specifically voicing his frustration with what he said was the party’s betrayal of former President Biden.

He also blamed the party for Harris’ loss.

“It was deeply troubling that party elders could not muster enough know-how to help a smart, accomplished lawyer like Harris defeat an illiterate former reality TV star, after party elders brushed Biden aside in an embarrassing display. The party needed to redefine its mission and find a way to move forward without publicly dismantling our standard-bearers or leaving their successors hanging in the wind,” he wrote.

Biden also blamed sexism and racism for Harris’ loss.

“I’m not surprised, but not because I don’t think the vice president is the most qualified person to be president. I’m surprised. He’s qualified to be president of the United States. I’m surprised, I’m surprised because they went that route, the sexist route, the whole route. So it’s a woman, she’s this, she’s that. I mean, really, I’ve never seen such a successful and consistent campaign that overturned the idea that a woman couldn’t lead the country and a woman Biden “The View” he said “mixed race” on his show.

Jean-Pierre also wrote that Harris deserves to seek the nomination without “a cage fight where governors and congressmen jostle to get to the front of the line.”

“Omitting Harris would also be disrespectful to Black women in general, the ride-or-die foot soldiers of the Democratic Party who have long done the job but are often skipped over or overlooked when campaigns that need their votes and labor come into the rearview mirror,” the former press secretary wrote.

Harris, who has written her own memoirs about the failed 2024 campaign, has repeatedly stated on her book tour and in recent public appearances that President Donald Trump has no authority, calling the 2024 election the “closest” election of this century.
