Karoline Leavitt slams networks over minimal Sheridan Gorman murder coverage

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt criticized liberal networks’ minimal coverage of the killing of 18-year-old Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman.
Leavitt took some time during Monday’s press conference to highlight a recent study from the Media Research Center that showed CBS News devoted two minutes and one second to the Gorman murder, while ABC News spent just one minute and 19 seconds and NBC News spent just 23 seconds overall.
He linked the murder, allegedly committed by an illegal immigrant wandering the streets of Chicago after being released into the country by the Biden administration, to the ongoing showdown on Capitol Hill, where Democrats continue to block DHS funding over their objections to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
“I think his life is worth more than 23 seconds on cable television,” Leavitt said. “And I think the people in this room have a responsibility to report cases like this because this is an example of why the president believes so strongly in deporting illegal aliens from our communities.”

Representatives for ABC News, CBS News and NBC News did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s requests for comment.
The three broadcast networks paid little attention to Gorman, while the liberal cable networks turned a blind eye.

According to Grabien transcripts, MS NOW did not once mention the slain college student after his murder began to attract national attention. CNN also avoided the story except for guest Rep. Mike Lawler, R-Y., who touched on Gorman’s murder during an interview, and in a separate instance when CNN aired a livestream of a separate White House briefing in which Leavitt had previously mentioned Gorman.
DHS confirmed that the suspect, Jose Medina-Medina, is a “Venezuelan criminal illegal alien” who was captured by the U.S. Border Patrol in 2023 and released into the country under the Biden administration. Medina-Medina was released again a month after he was arrested on theft charges.
The Chicago Police Department formally charged Medina-Medina with first-degree murder.
