Kate channels Diana in bespoke Alexander McQueen coat dress at Anzac Day memorial service

The Princess of Wales paid a loving tribute to the late Princess Diana as she paid tribute to fallen soldiers at Anzac Day commemorations on Saturday.

Kate attended a wreath-laying and parade at the Cenotaph in Westminster to mark the anniversary of the Allied Forces landing on the Gallipoli Peninsula at dawn in Türkiye in 1915.

But eagle-eyed viewers may have spotted a rather subtle nod to her late mother-in-law; Kate opted to wear a bespoke Alexander McQueen coat dress, which bore a striking resemblance to the Catherine Walker blue suit previously worn by Diana.

In 1995, the late princess set out to introduce new colors to the Light Horse Guard Regiment in Bergen, Germany, in an outfit that bore a striking resemblance to the coat dress Kate wore on Saturday.

The most important difference between the elegant attire of the two noble women, similar in both color and style, was their hair; Kate opted to wear her long wavy locks down, while Diana’s short haircut matched her signature look.

In a touching tribute to Diana, Kate’s Anzac Day commemoration outfit was also accessorised with a pair of sapphire double cluster earrings that previously belonged to the late princess.

Before her death in 1997, Diana had been seen wearing the earrings on numerous occasions, including when she attended the Met Gala in New York in 1996 and during her visit to Canada in 1991.

In recent years, Kate has often been seen wearing striking earrings to accessorise her outfits at public events; And items from Diana’s jewelry collection were often re-worn by Kate as thoughtful gifts.

During the Anzac Day commemoration ceremony, Kate wore a Demellier navy bag, as well as a bespoke Jane Taylor hat and Gianvito Rossi heels.

The Princess of Wales also wore a rare tanzanite and diamond necklace from G. Collins and Sons, believed to have been gifted by her husband Prince William in 2015.

While Diana’s navy blue skirt suit with white details bore an uncanny resemblance to the outfit Kate chose on Saturday, the late princess also preferred Collingwood pearl earrings.

The gorgeous pearl drop earrings were given to Diana as a wedding gift in 1981 and were later given to Kate; she also recently wore these earrings when she and William welcomed Nigeria’s president and first lady during their state visit to the United Kingdom in March.

The magnificent piece of jewellery, which was a firm favorite of Diana’s, was displayed by Diana on numerous royal tours to Australia, Canada and Italy and is now believed to be a key part of Kate’s jewelery collection.

During the state visit, Kate also wore an elegant gray dress by Tolu Coker and a matching grey-and-white Jane Taylor hat to complete her chic look.

The Princess of Wales then visited Westminster Abbey, where a ceremony was held attended by veterans, royals and politicians including Shadow Foreign Secretary Priti Patel.

In a touching moment after the ceremony, Kate greeted the two young boys and their serving mother, shook their hands and chatted with them.

Princess Anne, who laid a wreath at the Wellington Arch in Hyde Park Corner at 5am on Saturday morning, also attended the ceremony held in London this year.

John McCrae’s poem In Flanders Fields was also read at the event and performances by Ngati Ranana Maori Club London members were also heard.

In March, Kate delighted royal fans by opting for an eye-catching, sensuous piece of jewelry during a surprise royal trip to London with the Prince of Wales.

Pairing their new £995 Jimmy Choo shoes with cropped trousers and a Catherine Walker check blazer, Kate and William enjoyed a jam-packed day in the capital, from a tour of Bermondsey’s Beer Mile to a boat trip along the River Thames.

Eagle-eyed viewers may have noticed a rather touching detail in Kate’s look: the Cartier ‘Trinity’ rings are believed to have been a thoughtful gift to celebrate William’s 43rd birthday.

Priced at £3,200, Kate, 44, has been seen wearing the stylish earrings on just five separate occasions this year; This magnificent piece of jewelery consisted of three interlocking bands of 18-carat white, yellow and rose gold.

Created by Louis Cartier in the 1920s, the earrings are Kate’s sixth jewel in the Trinity collection, with three intersecting hoops thought to be a nod to her three children.

This piece of jewelery is also believed to be a loving tribute to her famous mother-in-law, Princess Diana, who was an avid fan of Cartier’s ‘Trinity’ collection and often wore a distinctive Trinity ring on her little finger.
