A Turkish Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Barcelona on Thursday morning after a passenger set up a Wi-Fi hotspot and made a fake threat claiming there was a “bomb threat” on the plane, according to airline officials.
Emergency protocol was alerted as Flight 1853 from Istanbul approached its intended destination at Barcelona-El Prat Airport. Euronews It was stated that the Airbus A321, carrying 148 passengers and 7 crew, was directed to a designated area for inspection after landing.
Turkish Airlines Senior Vice President of Communications Yahya Üstün said in his post on the X channel, “It was determined that a passenger created an in-flight internet access point and gave the network a name containing a bomb threat.” he said.
