Brooks Koepka: Five-time major winner announces departure from LIV Golf

Florida-born Koepka, who is married with a young son, turned pro in 2012 and won nine PGA Tour events during his nine seasons in North America’s elite professional league.
The PGA Tour also wished Koepka and his “family continued success” in a statement, adding that they “will continue to provide the best professional golfers with the most competitive, challenging and rewarding environment in which to pursue excellence.”
A three-time US PGA champion, Koepka also won the US Open twice.
His departure from the PGA Tour, along with big names like Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau, was seen as a major blow for LIV at a time when the sport was in civil war.
Koepka’s LIV Golf team captaincy for Smash will now pass to Talor Gooch, leaving a vacancy in the team to be filled for the start of the 2026 season in February.
Koepka became the first star player to leave LIV Golf, but there had been speculation for months about his future and possible return to the PGA Tour.
The Tour suspended players competing in LIV Golf events after classifying them as unauthorized. Non-members were subject to a one-year ban following previous LIV events.
Koepka will also be eligible to participate in the DP World Tour and will have an exemption to compete in golf’s four major championships.
