Keir Starmer makes sneakiest U-turn yet – shows just how corrupt PM is | Personal Finance | Finance

We have experienced countless examples of how he will say whatever suits him in the moment, without caring if it is true or if it will come back and hurt him later. I remember him posing for a photo with the Waspi women when they were in opposition, claiming to support their campaign for prompt and fair compensation. I warned him then that he didn’t mean it, and after he gained the power he dropped them like a stone.
He did this over and over again. He repeatedly claimed during the election that he would not raise taxes, then went to town with the help of Labor’s Rachel Reeves. In August last year, I compiled a list of his greatest men. I reached 25 immediately. You can read them all here, but a warning: they may make your blood boil.
In January, the Express counted 13 Starmer U-turns and we’ve seen a steady stream since. There’s another one today. This is classic Sir Keir. It also offers an ugly insight into how far Labor will go to win votes and tilt the system in its favour.
Ahead of the general election in May 2024, Starmer said he wanted to give 16 and 17-year-olds the right to vote. This was criticized as a blatant attempt to stack the election in Labour’s favour. Obviously it was. It looks even more broken now.
This move would enable approximately 1.5 million young people to vote. And the motivation was clear. Young people are more likely to support Labor if they can be bothered to get out of bed during the day.
This was a shameless political calculation. Teenagers can be highly intelligent and idealistic, but they are easily manipulated and vulnerable to peer pressure.
At the time, the Express found eight reasons why the ’16 vote could backfire. Reform UK leader Nigel Farage said it was a case of vote rigging and warned it could blow up in Labour’s face. Now it turns out he was right. Keir Starmer finally realized the danger and of course made another U-turn.
Today it emerged that the Labor Party has shelved plans to pass legislation giving votes to 16-year-olds. From where? Because they suddenly realized that the real beneficiary would not be the Labor Party, but the Green Party.
As left-wing voters abandon the party and flock to wildly charismatic demagogue Zack Polanski, Labor fears the Greens, just as they fell in love with Jeremy Corbyn before him. Polanski is exactly the kind of politician who appeals to young voters. His radical ideas look great on social media, but would be disastrous in practice.
Opening borders, drug legalization, wealth taxes, ever more spending (except on defence), all wrapped up in virtue signaling and intolerance of dissenting views. Of course, young people are interested in this. His policies are crazy, but far more exciting than the lumbering old Starmer.
Even our lethargic Prime Minister realized the risk. Labor was hoping to attract young people’s votes. Instead, votes in 16 will feed the Greens. So the policy was abandoned. As well as all the cynical, self-serving arguments Starmer uses to justify the change. What a twisted way to run a party and a country.
We have seen the same model before in the Labor Party; Starmer blocked an investigation into the grooming gang scandal because he feared losing Muslim votes. Starmer. Smooth? He’s just as dangerous as they are.
