Arvind Kejriwal, the collector of the AAM AADMI Party, called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, September 7, 2025 to “show some courage” and bring a tariff of 75% for imports from the United States in response to the 50% tariff in Indian exports.

At a press conference, Mr. Kejriwal claimed that the center’s decision to exempt a 11% task for the importation of cotton imports from the USA by 31 December 2025 would damage Indian cotton farmers. Authorized, US farmers will impoverish the rich and Gujarat cultivators, he added.

India currently has an import tax exemption for raw cotton until December 31 this year to support the textile industry and lower input costs.

Mr. Kejriwal, “We demand the courage from the Prime Minister to show courage, the whole country stands behind you. America has brought 50% tariff from India for export. You are applying 75% tariff to imports from America and the country is ready to carry it.

In addition, by demanding 11% tax for cotton imported from the United States, the minimum support price and cotton supplying with 2,100 la per 20 kg, as well as subsidizing fertilizers and seeds to help Indian farmers.

Former Delhi prime minister claimed that the US’s 50% tariff over India also affected diamond workers, because the Modi government fell on his knees in front of President Donald Trump.

Last month, the decision to expand the exemption of import tax on cotton until December 31, will strengthen India’s position in the export markets, and will revive orders and export -oriented units for small and medium -sized enterprises.

The movement comes at a time when 50 percent of tariffs applied to Indian goods by the United States come into force and America is the biggest export market for the country’s textile and clothing export.

Mr. Kejriwal was in Gujarat to join Kisan Mahapanchayat, which was postponed due to heavy rains in Chotila in Surendranagar region.

When Mr. Trump applied a 50% tariff to India, he did not increase in return for modi, but (in the US imports from cotton) 11%, Mr. Kejriwal questioned why the Prime Minister was “bending” and weakened.

The AAP leader said India’s largest market in the world and that people stand behind Modi.

“The whole country stands behind Modiji (Trump) has brought 50% tariff, Modiji It must have brought 100% tariff for cotton. Trump would have to bend. Trump is a cowardly, timid person. He had to submit to all countries that challenged him. Close four American companies and they will get into trouble. ”

Kejriwal said India’s decision to eliminate the 11% task on cotton imported from the United States, and that Indian farmers will not be sold when they took them to the market in October-November.

“When cotton arrives from the US (in India), farmers will receive less than 900 in the market. This is this with farmers – (USA) farmers are enriched and Gujarat farmers become poor.”

The central government first lifted this task for 40 days – between 19 August – 30 September. But now it has been extended and removed until December 31, Kejriywal said.

AAP Competter, “Now, there is no way to sell the cottons of farmers of our country. Our country’s farmers bought loans and purchased seeds and fertilizers, (farm) paid money to the workers, now how to pay back the loan?

He also questioned India’s “helplessness” in front of America. “Under the pressure of Trump, our central government eliminated 11 percent of the task and forced the country’s farmers to commit suicide.”

The other countries where Mr. Trump applied tariffs reacted strongly and the US president had to “bend” and eliminate the tariff, but claimed that India did not do any action.
