Kemi Badenoch vows to ‘root out far-Left bigotry’ in Britain’s public sector after NHS England manager is revealed to have hurled racist slur at Tory leader

An investigation has been launched into social media posts by an NHS England manager after it was revealed that he made a racial slur towards Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch.
Lucy Hunte, national program manager for apprenticeships at NHS England, used a series of coconut emojis when sending a message to Ms Badenoch on X.
Other posts by Ms Hunte, revealed in a dossier of her social media activities seen by the Daily Mail, include her downplaying the fears of Jewish people during pro-Palestinian marches in London.
In one post, he claimed that ‘normal Jewish people’ were not interested in the marches, but ‘only those who supported the genocide’ were.
Ms Hunte also publicly supported Bob Vylan after he had her chant “death to the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces)” during the band’s controversial performance at the Glastonbury Festival last summer.
The term ‘coconut’ is widely seen as a racial slur, accusing someone of being a ‘race traitor’.
Ms Hunte used three coconut emojis in her message to Ms Badenoch in August last year; The Conservative Party leader had supported flying St George and Union flags in towns and cities across England.
While NHS England said it was “urgently investigated”, Ms Badenoch told the Daily Mail that Ms Hunte’s post “tells all you need to know about the culture that is ingrained in many of our public services” and vowed her Conservative Party would tackle “bigotry”.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Ms Hunte is an ‘award-winning national program manager – doing an apprenticeship with NHS England’
The Conservative Party leader said: ‘The fact that an NHS manager did not hesitate to racially abuse me because I love Britain and our flag tells you everything you need to know about the culture that is ingrained in so many of our public services.
‘If he did this to a high-profile politician, imagine what he would do to ethnic minority colleagues unfortunate enough to work with this idiot.
‘The Far Left has spent years entrenching itself in our institutions and the result is NHS managers who think patriotism is provocation and racism is progressive.
‘They can’t see the bigotry of the buzzword and the Conservatives will stamp it out.’
Ms Hunte texted Ms Badenoch on August 24: ‘Are you really that stupid?! Are they angry at people like you?
‘Even if we were born and raised here, don’t they see it as ‘our’ country?!’
The NHS England worker’s post came in response to the Conservative Party leader sharing a newspaper article he wrote to celebrate British flags ‘flying proudly as symbols of unity, nationhood and optimism’.
Campaigners displayed the British and British flags last summer following an online movement called ‘Operation Raise the Colours’.
But the campaign was also linked to far-right groups and sparked controversy after some local councils removed council-owned infrastructure such as lampposts.
Ms Hunte shared the racial slur despite having previously been vocal about racism on social media.
He used the hashtag #NoRoomForRacism and also complained that ‘xenophobia and racism are rampant’.
In a post, Ms Hunte expressed her hope that “racists will decide to boycott the NHS”, claiming they might find “too many brown faces” in the new NHS career advert.

He expressed his support for Bob Vylan during a major controversy surrounding the band’s Glastonbury performance in June.
The Prime Minister has condemned the British punk duo for calling for the “death” of Israeli soldiers in what he called “appalling hate speech”.
But posting on X in response to Avon and Somerset Police announcing they were considering the comments, Ms Hunte said: ‘Don’t you have anything better to do?! The real crime is genocide!’
The police investigation subsequently concluded with no further action taken.
Ms. Hunte has frequently voiced her party’s political leanings on social media.
He criticized Keir Starmer’s decision to block Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham from becoming the Labor candidate in the recent Gorton and Denton byelection.
Ms Hunte also expressed her frustration with the ‘infighting’ during the founding of Your Party, the new Left movement led by former Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn.
Ms Hunte appears to have deleted account X as NHS England and Ms Hunte were approached about the social media posts.
An NHS England spokesman said: ‘Any form of racism or discrimination by NHS staff is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated. ‘We are urgently investigating these posts.’
