Nikki Glaser cuts Trump jokes from Golden Globes hosting gig ceremony

Comedian Nikki Glaser said she deliberately avoided political jokes while hosting the 2026 Golden Globe Awards and said they weren’t “funny” in the current climate.
On Tuesday’s episode of Howard Stern’s radio show, Glaser said jokes about Trump were written but eventually cut.
“It’s not funny,” Glaser said. Hollywood Reporter, He’s talking about his appearance on Stern’s show.
“At one point I was about to come in and say, ‘I heard from the bar that we were out of ice. You know, we don’t actually need ice. I actually hate ice,'” he said.

“It seemed like even that was so unimportant.”
Many jokes aimed at President Donald Trump were also canceled, Glaser said, including jokes about Trump’s decision to add his name to the updated Trump Kennedy Center. The joke was written by comedian Steve Martin but was eventually cut because it did not fit the tone of the plot.
“You’re not saying that guy’s name right now,” he told Stern.

“I just want to make room for it,” he added.

While Glaser stayed away from politics, many in the audience didn’t either. The annual gala comes just days after the death of Renee Good, a Minneapolis woman whose fatal shooting during an ICE standoff sparked protests and national debate.
Many celebrities, including Jean Smart, Mark Ruffalo and Wanda Sykes, wore pins that read “BE WELL” and “THE ICE IS OUT.”

But Glaser took aim at CBS, the network broadcasting the awards, and derided the channel as the home of “BS news.”

“Most editing awards go to CBS News. Yes. CBS News: America’s newest place to ‘see BS news,'” Glaser said.
The remarks come amid recent disagreements with CBS News, including accusations from Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem that the network selectively edited interviews.
