Kentucky substitute teacher accused of soliciting underage student for sex

A substitute teacher in Kentucky was arrested after she allegedly exposed herself during a video chat with an underage student as part of a plan to meet for sex, authorities said.
Krystal Sims, 30, of Cave City, was arrested Oct. 2 after the Barren County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that she was contacting the child to arrange a sexual encounter. WCLU-TV.
Deputies interviewed the student, who said he met Sims while working as a substitute teacher in his classroom. He told investigators she accepted a friend request he sent her on Snapchat.
According to the boy, he and Sims began discussing plans to meet for sex in Cave City on August 22. He showed lawmakers a call recording from that day in which a female voice could ask if anyone had come to meet him.

The conversation then turned into a video call, during which the boy appeared to be in the shower with Sims’ breasts exposed.

During the Oct. 2 interview, Sims told deputies that several students tried to add him on social media, but he claimed he turned down their requests. She admitted to being a woman in the recorded call, but said she only agreed to meet the student so she could apologize for her behavior in class.

Sims said the meeting never took place and nothing physical occurred.

The name of the school where Sims and the minor encountered each other was not immediately provided. The child’s age was also unclear.

He was released Monday on a $25,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
