The Kerala High Court has allowed a transgender person to approach any fertility center to freeze and store her eggs.
A 28-year-old transgender man appealed to the Supreme Court after a private fertility center refused to provide services. For this, the center stated that there is no provision in the Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Act that allows such a service to be provided to transgender individuals.
While hearing the plea, the Supreme Court ruled that the clinic the person chooses must take steps to retrieve and store her eggs so they can be used for reproductive purposes at a later stage in her life.
